Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!!…….. Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!!….. Aaa-Aaa-Aaa–Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Excuse Me!!!!! Bbbrrrrrr…… bbrrr……. Excuse me!
Thats the after effect of an eternal nose block buster!!!!!! My nose was horribly blocked with heavy sinus. The pain radiating from the middle of my nose right till the back of my temples! My eyes watering and ears paining! When I would talk with my students they would make fun of me since I was talking through my nose!!!!! The only thing that I was craving at a time like this is some nose block buster!!!!!! Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Excuse me!
Hot, spicy, tangy, tomato rasam is the best nose block buster that I recommend!! Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Excuse me! These are the after effects of course, but I prefer using a few tissues rather than pain killers!!!! Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Bbrrrrrrrrrrr……..!!!!!
Few ingredients make up this wonderful heavenly soup……
- 2 Tomatoes
- 2 tsp rasam powder
- 2-3 tsp tamrind pulp
- jaggery
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 inch piece grated ginger
- 1 green chilli
- salt to taste
Finely chop 1/2 tomato and puree the other 1 and 1/2
Boil 1 glass water and add chopped tomatoes, chopped green chillies and grated garlic.
Once it boils all the tomato puree, rasam powder, tamrind pulp, jaggery, salt to taste and grated ginger.
In a small kadai prepare the tempering. Heat the oil and let mustard seeds splutter. Add jeera and curry leaves and pour over the rasam.
Give it a good boil and enjoy it alone as a soup…..
Or with steamed rice and papad…….
Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!!………. Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! Aaa-Aaa-Aaa-Choo!! And enjoy the released clog in your sinuses!!!! Aaaahhhhhh…….!!!!!!! 😀
For the rasam powder, I used the recipe from Dakshin.
- 2 1/2 cups Corriander seeds
- 1 1/4 cups red chillies
- 1/2 cup black peppercorns
- 3/4 cup toor dal
- 4 tbsp chana dal
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric
Dry roast all the ingredients, powder them in a grinder, store them in an air tight container in the fridge and enjoy it for a looooooooooong time!!!! 🙂

Oh Coffee, hope you are feeling better now.Tomato rasam is the right choice baby aha ……when you have sinus 🙂
Hey! I know how horrible sinus is! Nice recipe there! The perfect rasam to cure sinusitis can be made by adding asafoetida to the tempering and bit of black pepper wen u r about to turn the gas off(so that the flavour remains). Black pepper is excelletn for a nose block 🙂 Get well soon!
