{Updated: My lovestory was up for grabs only for a few days……. Sorry if you have missed it. ๐ฆ }
Never mind…….. Kuch meetha ho jaye….???!!!! ๐ (How about something sweet to eat now???)
This is very similar to gajar ka halwa (Carrot Halwa). I didn’t follow any particular measurements, so I am just listing down the amount I used while making and I think it was perfect. This quantity is enough to serve 2-3 people.
For this very delicious beetroot halwa, grate 1 big beetroot. Make sure it is slightly on the thicker side.
Heat about 1 tbsp ghee and add the grated beetroot.
Add about 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup cream. Keep stirring and cooking till it absorbs the milk and cream.
Add about 1/2 to 3/4 cup (adjust as per your taste) of sugar and keep stirring.
Once it starts to leave the sides, add the cardamom powder and switch off the gas.
Garnish with chopped almonds and serve hot!!!
Here’s to Pooja for her Valentine special. ๐ You cannot get anything more RED than this. ๐
We don’t really celebrate this day in any special way. For us it can be as good as any other day…. or any other day, as good as a valentine day ๐ He is travelling right now, and there is no reason for me cry or sulk or be sad that he is not here for this day. ๐
My contribution for this event special is mainly for the fun of participating and for making something which we both like. ๐

Hi Coffee,
Such a nice entry , and I love the reading befroe recipe too. thanks for sharing your nice moments with us. I believe in Marraige institutions, be it arranged or love. I also have seen some people who believe that there is no chance to explore each other’s idea in arranged marriage , that concepts is gone a long long ago and like a history now… ๐ .
Nice to know more about your life.:)
this is going to be a really nice entry. thanks for sharing and participating. ๐
That was quick pooji ๐ (I had a friend in college whom we used to call pooji ๐ )
Glad you liked it. ๐ Arranged marriage concepts are surely changing…… but people still think it is something like forced marriage!!!!! They give me a wierd look when I say that our marriage was arranged!!!!! HUH!!!!!
Hi Coffee
Loved reading your posts. See how things fall in place ๐ All the best to you and your hubby always.
When are you coming back ? Have a safe trip, do you have someone to help you with the airport trip etc., else do it safe.
Yes, they always do ๐ No matter how much you will crib and cry and turn the world upside down, things will happen the way they have to happen. ๐ Thanks for the wishes. ๐
I should be back in 3-4 weeks time. My SIL and her kids are also travelling with me, so not a problem. ๐
That beet root halwa is really good, never tried it. Like beetroot so this goes on my ever expanding list
You will forget gajar ka halwa after you make this. I can bet on that ๐
Hi coffee,
Loved reading your post, wow!i can imagiane the scene when you are narrating us…..
Lucky guys got chance to meet alone…..during parents meeting we only got chance to speak through eyes….
Anyway we even had a good chat through phone ,net……I think even in arranged marriage there is some intersting things….right…
By the way beetroot halwa looks awesome, i do prepare some times….
Hehe…. I think arranged marriages are more interesting than love marriages. There is so much of excitement…… so many things unknown!!!! Love marriage, you know everyhting about each other ….. so boring!!!!! ๐
Just kidding people!!!!! No offence to anyone over there. ๐ Whats more important is the bonding and understanding between the two. ๐
Hey,that was a good post..I think yours is not just an arranged marriage,it is “Arranged Love Marriage”!How about that? ๐ and I could amost picture you all smiling and happy(ofcourse all those countless smilies gave me enough clues). And beetroot halwa is a perfect and simple but beautiful choice to celebrate the special day! Will be sending my entry to MBP soon as I upload the pics..:)

I will wait for you rentry Vini. ๐
And see how happy you are!!! Loved reading the post, coffee! bahu mast story che, who says arranged marriages don’t work? I think there is more respect in arranged marriages than love marriages…and have more chances of working out than love marriages. I wish you all the best always!
Beetroot halwa no color to joh…laal ghoom! Wicked!

I am 100% with you on that. ๐

Wow Coffee,
How simillar is your story to mine. Oh boy loved reading each line very much. Marriages are made in heaven. Things that have to happen will happen and All happens for good isn’t it. I got married as soon as
I graduated and to be frank just like you didn’t wanna marry then. Wanted to do some higher studies. But I guess things had to happen and I got married to A and have no regrets at all.
Beet root halva, Gal my ma used to make beetroot halwa and we used to love it. My hubby has never had it or heard about it.He doesn’t like beet so he doesn’t wana try it. I am gonna show yours and hopefully looking at it he will want to try them soon.
Hugs
HUGS!!! Very true…. things will happen the way they have to happen. ๐
I hope your hubby gets tempted by looking at it and you get a chance to make it. ๐
Oops if this is gonna be your last post before your India trip, I have to wish you a safe and fun filled trip. Have fun and enjoy and I am sure gonna miss you.
Thanks. ๐ I will. ๐
I wont let you miss me dear. ๐ I will blog from there as well. ๐
Hi Coffee — I enjoyed the whole post — recipe *and* story! I think there’s alot to be said for fate or destiny — sure sounds like you and your husband were fated to be together :):)
Have a most wonderful safe trip and enjoy yourself — I’ll miss you, but I’ll try that halwa in your honor while you’re away ๐
Linda
Haha…. I am honoured already!!!!!
I agree, it was definately fated. ๐
Hi Coffee
Lovely story, very interesting and somewhat like mine cos mine was arranged marriage too. I had done my PG but wanted to work and didnt even want to get married at all. my mum and dad had had enough after I had rejected every single proposal they brought ! In the end I had to bow in front of their wishes and say OK to Govind as he looked decent and educated and from a decent family. So, I believe it too that marriages are made in heaven, cos I am really happy and when people give me that quizical look when I say that ours was arranged marriage, I cant stop thinking that I couldnt have found a better husband myself – he is the best ๐
And I agree with you, arranged marriages are much more interesting – you dont even realise and 2-3 years are gone just in getting to know each other !!!
Beet halwa looks so yummmmmm – got to try that. And have a safe trip girl ๐
I can bet on that!!!! Its been three yrs that I am married and it feels as if it was just last week. ๐
Thing happen the way they have to and its often the best they can be. ๐ The more you fight with fight, the more you will get hurt ๐ Just go with the stride. ๐
Let me know how you like the halwa. ๐ Thanks for the concern. ๐
As always i negleted the “Warning” and went to your lovely write up..
A part me always neglect warnings..this time i am glad i did that..got to read a nice love story.Lovely dessert followed by a lovely write up.I know it’s lot to ask, but try to post nice home cooked dishes when you are on vacation ..:D
Hehe… I hope that was a plesant warning that you skipped reading ๐ But all the warnings may not be this good ๐
I will definately be posting from there. ๐ But what???? I dont know. ๐

I will be blogging from there as well Sra!!!! So worry not!!! ๐
Hi Coffee,It was really nice reading about your marriage. That is why they say marriages are made in heaven. I totally believe in destiny. We plan so many things but God has his own plans ready for us.

Hello Coffee,
I liked reading your post .. especially liked the statement
“And after coming to Singapore, forget PGรขโฌยฆ.. my medical degree was also of no use. ” was soooo nice to read your special moments
-Sushma
Thanks Sushma. ๐
Hi Coffee,
After reading your blog about your marriage, I felt guilty. I had applied for PG in Malaysia, everything was done and only my Visa papers to be signed on….(at that time I was married and my DH was in US), and at the final moment, my DH called off the deal and asked me to come US. Till now I regret for that…even though married life, being with your husband and et al makes your life seem content….education and experience is something I wud never giveup for anyone, and this time it had to….and after reading your blog, I wonder how to convince myself on tat again….ahem…kinda weird decision for me though…!!!
Anisha, ask yourself one question….. are you happy right now???? had you done your masters and then gone to US would you be any happier??? or your life would have been any diff???:)
What matters most is that you are happy. I always go by one saying, “Forgive and Forget” . I would rather not waste my time thinking about what I don’t have, when I can live and enjoy so much that I have. ๐
Let me know what you think after reading this. ๐
Hi,

Hi Coffee, Thanks for your wishes and I am wishing you a very happy trip to India. The last MBP round up was excellent. Thanks for your compliments. Then comes ginger toffee รขโฌโ could not resist. I am a big fan of ginger. The 5 mysteries are quite interesting and your advise too. Then comes your flashback รขโฌโ took a right decision to say Yes. Could sense your dilemma. Beetroot halwa is really rice. Enjoy your vacation. Will participate in March event. Viji
